In Clifden (a little market town) you can do excellent postcard and book shopping. Check out one of the good restaurants (Atlantic Hotel, Mitchels) or have a coffee in the morning (Pint in the evening) in one of the most original Irish pubs (E.J. Kings, there is also Irish live music every night at ten). Then start your walk to the top of a little hill to overlook Clifden and meet some of the Connemara horses and ponies.

The entrance to the Clifden Castle ruine is a nice stone gate. Admire the old Clifden Castle ruine (take some pictures in the good scenario) and your way back to Clifden guides you on the Atlantic Coast. Dip your feet into the Atlantic and enjoy the little path that takes you back to the town.

You can stop for a coffee break in the Sailing Center and you will even get to a sandy beach before you return to Clifden. The whole walk takes about one afternoon, but it is absolutely not exhausting and gives you splendid views over the ocean.
